Throughout my career, I have authored and produced publications that make complex issues and processes accessible to diverse audiences. These tools have been used by election officials, advocates, and nonprofit coalitions both here in Rhode Island and across the country. I’ve led these projects from content strategy to layout to distribution, ensuring clarity, accessibility, and political neutrality where required.
Voter Registration Guide
I developed a new instructional guide for community organizations and student groups to organize their own voter registration drives. It has served as the basis of “Train the Trainer” events hosted by our elections team. The guide was modified in 2020 to incorporate social distancing protocols due to COVID.
Elections Communications Guide
In 2020 and 2022, I developed a communications guide for community organizations to mobilize their own constituents with trusted voter information. This guide was part of a complete digital toolkit formerly hosted on the Secretary of State’s website.
Voter Information Handbook
In 2016, I completely rewrote and reorganized the content of the Voter Information Handbook to make it easier for voters to understand important voter deadlines, voting procedures, and state referenda appearing on the ballot. We maintained these design standards throughout my time with the Secretary of State. This effort was featured in Governing Magazine and lauded by national civic design experts.
(See 2014 handbook for comparison.)
Additional Publications
At HousingWorks RI, I oversaw the entire production of the annual Housing Fact Book including developing content, simplifying data analyses conducted by the research director, and managing third-party vendors.
